Mobile app development services

We design, build and support mobile applications across the complete product lifecycle. Our engineers develop native iOS and Android apps where platform-specific performance matters, and use React Native or Flutter when a shared codebase offers the right balance of speed, cost and user experience.

Mobile development services for new and existing products

Our engineers work across the Apple and Android ecosystems using Swift, Kotlin, Java and established cross-platform frameworks.

We can build a new application from the ground up or take responsibility for an existing product with users, technical debt and an active release schedule.

Native mobile application development

We build iOS and Android applications that take full advantage of each platform. Native development is well suited to products that depend on advanced device capabilities, high-performance interfaces, background processes or platform-specific user experiences.

Cross-platform application development

We use React Native or Flutter when a shared codebase can reduce development time and cost without compromising the product experience. We also support Ionic and Xamarin applications that are already in production.

Native or cross-platform: how to choose

Application modernisation

We assess existing mobile products, improve their architecture and performance, update legacy technologies and prepare them for current operating systems. The recommended approach may involve targeted refactoring, framework migration or a selective rebuild.

Mobile quality assurance

Our QA engineers test functionality against business requirements and across the required device and operating-system matrix. The process covers regression testing, edge cases, performance and the release conditions that affect real users.

Maintenance and release management

We support applications after launch through operating-system updates, dependency upgrades, crash investigation, performance monitoring and App Store and Google Play releases.

Mobile team extension

Experienced mobile engineers can join your internal team on a full-time or part-time basis. They work within your repository, engineering process and release workflow, with an engagement model that can adjust as the roadmap changes.

When companies involve our mobile engineers

Most mobile engagements begin with one of these six situations.

  1. A new application is ready to move into development

The product concept is defined and you need a team to take it from initial validation through design, development and store release.

    The work

    • A written scope before the first sprint
    • Store review and privacy declarations handled
    • The first post-launch patch planned
  2. An existing application needs modernisation

The product requires a refreshed interface, improved performance, new functionality or support for current versions of iOS and Android.

    The work

    • An audit before the quote
    • The port or rework the audit points to
    • Updates for the latest OS versions
  3. The internal team needs additional mobile capacity

The roadmap is growing faster than the current team can deliver, or a specific platform skill is missing internally.

    The work

    • Developers you interview before they start
    • Onboarding measured in days
    • Work in your repository and release process
  4. The product needs one codebase across both stores

You want to reach iOS and Android users efficiently and need an informed decision on whether cross-platform development is appropriate.

    The work

    • Native or cross-platform decided before coding
    • React Native or Flutter as the default
    • Native modules where the framework falls short
  5. The engagement model needs to adapt with the roadmap

You need a delivery structure that can move between full product ownership, a dedicated team and targeted engineering support.

    The work

    • Full-cycle, dedicated team or extension
    • Hours scaled to the backlog, part-time or full
    • A switch without renegotiating the contract
  6. Development costs need to become more efficient

You want experienced engineers at a lower delivery cost than equivalent Western European teams, without reducing technical standards or product ownership.

    The work

    • Rates compared at the same seniority
    • Code and store accounts in your name
    • Senior review on AI-generated code

From product concept to a successful release

The delivery process is consistent across native and cross-platform applications.

  1. 01

    Discovery and scope

We define the target users, core workflows, platforms, integrations and release priorities. This stage produces a written scope, delivery roadmap, timeline and estimate.

Deliverables: product scope, estimate and delivery roadmap
  2. 02

    Product design and prototype

We design the key screens and interaction flows, then prepare an interactive prototype that stakeholders and users can review before development begins.

    Typical tools: Figma and Lottie
  3. 03

    Development

Engineers deliver the application in two-week iterations against the agreed priorities. Testable builds are shared regularly so feedback can be incorporated while the product is still evolving.

Typical technologies: Swift, Kotlin, React Native and Flutter
  4. 04

    Testing and release preparation

We test across the agreed device matrix, complete regression and performance checks and add crash monitoring. The release candidate is validated on real devices before store submission.

Typical tools: TestFlight, Firebase and SonarQube
  5. 05

    Store release and continuous improvement

We prepare the store listings, manage submission and respond to review requirements. After launch, the team monitors stability, user feedback and product performance to plan the next release.

Platforms: Apple App Store and Google Play

Start with the support your mobile product needs now

You do not need to fit the project into a fixed delivery model. We can take a new application from concept to release, add experienced engineers to your existing team, modernise a product already in the stores or assume responsibility from a previous provider.

01

Build a new mobile application

We manage the complete path from discovery and product design to development, testing and store release. Before the first sprint, you receive a written scope, delivery roadmap and estimate, with a clear definition of what belongs in the initial release.

02

Add mobile expertise to your team

Our engineers join your repository, ceremonies and release process to increase delivery capacity or cover a skill gap. You interview the developers before they start and retain direct control over priorities.

03

Modernise an existing application

We begin with a technical assessment, then recommend the smallest set of changes required to improve performance, maintainability and platform support. The work may involve focused refactoring, an architecture update or a framework migration such as Java to Kotlin or Ionic to React Native.

04

Mobile app migration

We structure the knowledge transfer, assess the codebase and release process, then assume responsibility for development, maintenance and store releases. For Photoweb we did the whole app migration from Java to Kotlin.

The Photoweb Migration

Faster delivery, with engineering accountability built in

Our mobile engineers use coding agents to accelerate implementation, testing, refactoring and documentation. This reduces the time between an approved design and a build stakeholders can use, while senior engineers remain accountable for architecture, security, performance and release quality.

AI-native product development

Put working software in stakeholders' hands earlier

Coding agents help prepare interface components, API clients and test foundations. Product teams can review complete user flows sooner, identify issues earlier and make decisions before changes become expensive.

Understand inherited code before changing it

During a takeover or modernisation, coding agents help map the codebase, identify missing tests and document existing behaviour. Engineers gain a reliable view of the application before making changes that could affect users or releases.

Keep senior engineers responsible for what ships

Architecture, offline behaviour, data synchronisation, security and performance remain engineering decisions. Every AI-assisted change is reviewed and tested by an experienced mobile engineer before it enters a release build.

Tack stack our mobile engineers work with

We choose technologies based on product requirements, the existing architecture and the cost of maintaining the application over time. Our teams cover modern native and cross-platform development as well as the legacy technologies commonly found in established mobile products.

iOS

We use Swift and SwiftUI for new development and support UIKit and Objective-C where established applications still depend on them. The same team can manage signing, provisioning, TestFlight and the complete App Store review process.

Android development

We build modern Android applications with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose and maintain Java-based products that need continued development or gradual migration.

Cross-platform development

React Native and Flutter are our primary cross-platform frameworks. We also support Ionic and Xamarin applications already in production and add native modules where the shared framework cannot meet a specific performance or device requirement.

Back-end, data and cloud

We integrate with existing platforms or build the services required to support the mobile product, using technologies that fit your architecture and current cloud environment.

Release engineering and product quality

We automate builds and releases, monitor code quality and track application stability across test and production environments.

Product integrations

Our teams work with the services commonly required by mobile products, including design systems, localisation, notifications, real-time communication, payments and on-device machine learning.

Choose how much delivery responsibility you want to retain

Some clients need one partner to own the entire application. Others already have product and engineering leadership but need additional mobile expertise. We structure the engagement around the ownership you want to keep internally, then adjust it as the roadmap and team evolve.

The metrics that matter begin after launch

A release date marks the beginning of a mobile product's commercial life. Stability, conversion and the ability to ship improvements determine whether it continues to grow. Piiics came to us with applications already available in both stores and a crash rate that was affecting user acquisition. We prioritised reliability, then continued improving the product experience.

Questions clients ask before starting a mobile project

Should we choose native or cross-platform development?

The right choice depends on the product, not the framework preference. Cross-platform development is usually more efficient for applications built around interfaces, forms and API-driven workflows that need to launch on both iOS and Android. Native development is typically the better option when the product relies on advanced camera functionality, Bluetooth, background location, complex graphics, platform-specific hardware or highly responsive interactions. We assess the technical requirements, commercial priorities and long-term roadmap before recommending either approach.

How quickly can the first version reach the stores?

The timeline depends on the release scope, number of platforms, integrations and store requirements. During discovery, we define the first commercially viable release and map the milestones required to deliver it. You receive testable builds throughout development, allowing stakeholders to review complete user flows and make product decisions before store submission.

How much does mobile application development cost?

The cost is shaped by the release scope, design complexity, platform strategy, integrations and quality requirements. After discovery, we provide a written estimate and separate the functionality required for the first release from features that can be delivered in later iterations. This provides a realistic initial budget without limiting the longer-term product roadmap.

Who owns the source code and store accounts?

You retain ownership of the source code, technical documentation and application assets produced during the engagement. Apple App Store and Google Play accounts can remain under your organisation’s control from the beginning of the project.

Do you manage App Store and Google Play submissions?

Yes. Our team prepares the release builds, store listings, privacy declarations and technical information required for submission. We also respond to review feedback, implement necessary changes and manage resubmission where required.

Can you rebuild an application developed by another team?

Yes. We begin with a technical review of the existing codebase, dependencies, release pipeline and store configuration. Based on the findings, we determine which components can be retained, which require refactoring and which should be rebuilt. The work is planned in stages to maintain release continuity and minimise disruption for existing users.

What support is available after launch?

Post-launch support can include continued product development, operating-system and dependency updates, crash investigation, performance monitoring and store release management. The engagement can range from part-time engineering support to a complete mobile product team, depending on the release schedule and roadmap.

Discuss your mobile product with our team

The initial consultation focuses on the product objective, current technical foundation, target platforms and next release milestone. Based on this context, we will recommend an appropriate delivery model and prepare a preliminary scope, timeline and estimate.

If a smaller first release, additional discovery or a different platform strategy would reduce cost or delivery risk, we will make that clear before the project begins.
